Gateway is pleased to advise that the ANTI-SPAM engine has been working without incident for a few weeks now.
The intention now is to start to tighten the engine what is now required is mail samples that are either marked as *spam?* that aren't and spam that you would like to be deleted.
If users could forward spam mail samples to spamcheck@gateway.net.au with option of marked wrong or would like deleted we will work on tightening the engine.
New Anti-Spam Protection Online We are pleased to announce the Mirapoint RazorGate Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Engine was put online at 9PM Thursday 9th June 2005.
At this stage we are only filtering INBOUND mail from outside Gateway and it's associated domains.
This means SPAM originating from other CipherTel/Gateway users is still possible but that has been deemed a lower priority.
The Mirapoint RazorGate Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Engine takes the following steps
1. Virus infected messages
Actions: - Any infected message is cleaned and passed on to you with a warning header. - The sender has a notification message sent to them assuming they are real.
Implications: - While this will limit the number of messages you receive with viruses it is no substitute for your own virus protection. - Depending on Beta testing each user may be given the option to not have infected e-mail's passed on to them from an online toolbox.
2. Spam
Actions: - Any obvious SPAM is blocked outright. That is e-mail from blacklisted or invalid domains etc. - Any e-mail the SPAM engine thinks is most likely SPAM now has the subject line adjusted with * SPAM? *
Implications: - Beta testers will provide feedback on how accurate the SPAM marking and detection is - Depending on those trials each user may be given the option to bounce these e-mail's via an online toolbox.
We look forward to providing more news of improved service soon....
